HOW TO HANG

Installing MURA wallpaper is a two-person job and a one-beer project. Take your time, follow these steps, and you’ll have a brand-new room by sunset.

🛠 STEP 1: GATHER YOUR TOOLS

You don’t need a contractor, but you do need these:

  • A friend (Seriously, it’s much easier with four hands).

  • A utility knife with a fresh, sharp blade is essential.

  • Squeegee (or a credit card wrapped in a soft cloth).

  • Level or Plumb line.

  • Step ladder.

🧼 STEP 2: PREP THE WALL (Don't skip this!)

Your wallpaper will only stay as long as your wall is clean.

  1. Clean it: Wipe the wall with a damp cloth to remove dust. Let it dry completely (24 hours is best).

  2. Smooth it: If there are bumps or nail holes, sand them down and fill them.

  3. The Fresh Paint Rule: If you just painted your walls, wait at least 4 weeks before installing wallpaper. If the paint is still "gassing out," it will cause bubbles and peeling.

📐 STEP 3: THE FIRST PANEL (The most important part)

The secret to a straight wall is a straight first panel.

  1. Use a level to draw a light vertical line on the wall where your first panel will go.

  2. Peel back about 12 inches of the backing paper.

  3. Align the edge of the panel with your level line.

  4. Leave an extra inch at the top (ceiling) to trim later.

✋ STEP 4: PEEL, STICK & SMOOTH

  1. Slowly pull the backing paper downward while your friend smooths the wallpaper onto the wall.

  2. Move from the center outward. Use your squeegee to push any air bubbles toward the edges.

  3. If it looks crooked, don't worry. Gently peel it back up and realign it. That’s the magic of MURA vinyl!

🧩 STEP 5: MATCHING THE PATTERN

  1. Apply the second panel so it sits directly next to the first one (no overlap needed for our straight-match designs).

  2. Align the pattern at eye level first, then work your way up and down.

✂️ STEP 6: THE FINISHING TOUCH

  1. Once all panels are up, use your sharp utility knife to trim the excess paper at the ceiling and baseboard.

  2. Use a ruler or your squeegee as a guide to get a perfectly straight cut.

  3. Give the whole wall one final firm rub with your squeegee to ensure the adhesive is fully bonded.

💡 PRO TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • Air Bubbles: If you find a stubborn bubble the next day, don't peel the whole thing. Just prick it with a tiny sewing needle and push the air out.

  • Temperature: Install in a room with a stable temperature (avoid extreme heat or cold during installation).

  • Save the backing: If you are a renter, save the backing paper! You can stick the wallpaper back onto it if you move.
